Bookmaker bonuses

Bonuses are used by bookmakers as marketing tools, in order to attract new customers or to maintain their client base. In their constant battle for clients, bookmakers have devised a large variety of bonuses.

As a sports bettor, a bonus offers a free betting opportunity and we recommend you to take full advantage of the various bonuses offered by the sports providers.

Common bonuses offered by most of the bookmakers are the following:

First deposit bonus or welcome bonus. This type of bonus is offered to all new registered clients on their first deposit where the bookmaker matches your deposit up to a certain amount.

Risk free bet bonus. For this bonus, the bookmaker will match your first bet (a minimum odd requirement) with a free bet of the same value (up to a certain amount) if that first bet loses. Usually, bookmakers offer this type of bonus for main sport events like Champions League Finals. In this context the bonus acts like a marketing poster for the event attracting a lot of bettors since the bet is free.

Reload bonus is offered for each deposit a user makes. Eg: The bonus can be 1% of the total deposit up to a certain amount.

Redeposit bonus is offered if the user made several deposits in a month. For example if the user made more than 15 deposits in a month, 100$ is offered as a bonus.

Winning bonus if a user won a certain amount in a month, the bookmaker might offer this type of bonus for retention purposes and to prevent a possible withdraw of funds.

Referral bonus As the name suggests this bonus is offered if the user refers the bookmakers’ website to a certain number of users.

Refund bonus This bonus is not so common but certain bookmakers use it in order to keep you as a client if you lost all your funds. For example if a user lost 1000$ in a month, the bookmaker will refund 15% of the total loss up to 100$.

Inactivity bonus If you have registered with a bookmaker and you have no activity on your account for a certain period of time, the bookmaker will offer a small incentive bonus in order for you to resume your betting activity with that particular bookmaker.

Various other bonuses In order to promote certain types of gambling (casino, poker, horse racing and many more) or a certain method of payment (using a Skrill account), bookmaker might offer various bonuses.

As a general rule, we recommend you to go through the terms and conditions for each betting bonus. You should be aware on the wagering requirements and at what minimum odds you need to bet in order to meet the requirements. The wagering requirement usually means that you have to wager the bonus a number of times before you are able to withdraw the bonus money. So it is an advantage for you as a player if the bonus has as low a turnover requirement as possible. Another factor that you should keep an eye on is whether there is a stated period of validity for the bonus and if so, how long it is.
